About
Gatien Leray and Duru Erdogan invite us to discover a program of great expressive richness, where three musical universes, very different but complementary, respond to and illuminate each other.
The Sonata op. 11 no. 4 by Hindemith, written in 1919, unfolds a modernity that is both frank and sensitive: an interior music, tense but never dry, which reveals the entire palette of colors of the viola and highlights the subtle dialogue with the piano.
With the "Arpeggione" Sonata D 821, Schubert transports us to a completely different horizon. This work, one of the most luminous (and well-known) by the composer, possesses a melodic line of profound sweetness, which everyone remembers and knows, carried by a simple lyricism and great elegance, where each phrase seems to breathe naturally. It is this same melodic line, supple and pure, that highlights the complicity between the two performers.
The program concludes with the Pièce op. 39 by Chausson, a true little jewel of French music from the late 19th century. We find here this very personal alliance of harmonic delicacy, expressive warmth, and a discreetly veiled romanticism, which gives Chausson's music its unique charm.
Together, Gatien Leray on the viola and Duru Erdogan on the piano invite us into their dialogue. Great accuracy, beauty of timbres, mutual listening, and a sense of musical narrative with naturalness and depth, this is what awaits us for the third meeting of the Happy Flaneries 2026, an hour of music to gently conclude our day.
